Meeting of Euro project Steering Committee

On 2 November 2012 the regular meeting of the Euro Project Steering Committee was held and the following issues were discussed:

1. The Euro project manager reported on the progress of the organisational issues of the large-number users IT systems.

2. There was taken the note that the draft Law on the Introduction of Euro is intuitionally confirmed and submitted for the consideration to the Cabinet of Ministers on 6 November 2012.

3. The Ministry of Justice reported on a letter sent to the European Central Bank about the Cabinet Order No. 564 of 26 July 2005 "On rendering the name of the single currency of the EU in Latvian". The Steering Committee instructed the Ministry of Justice to report to the next Steering Committee meeting on progress in this area.

4. The Ministry of Economics reported about the name & shame elements within the framework of "Fair euro introducer" campaign and the Euro project manager reported on the complaints procedure within the scope of the draft Law on Introduction of Euro, Chapter VII Control over the Action of the Law. The Steering Committee instructed the Euro project manager to the next meeting of the Steering Committee to identify the complaints procedure division into sub-procedures.

5. The Steering Committee approved the Central Statistical Bureau's report on the statistical data conversion principles. The Steering Committee instructed the Central Statistical Bureau to the next Steering Committee meeting to prepare the report for inclusion into the euro project next progress report to the Cabinet of Ministers.

6. The Euro project manager reported about the communication activities in 2012 that are related to the professional environment.

7. The Steering Committee supported the updates of the euro communication campaign content with the euro benefits explanation.

8. The next Euro project Steering Committee meeting is planned for 6 December 2012.
